Which of these do you think looks better? Which one is the more balanced design, the short-tailed 1300/Toledo or the long-tailed 1500/Dolomite? I've tried to get two pics as close to each other as possible to demonstrate.
I think my judgement has been clouded by knowledge of what each car is like.

Put me down for the 1500.. The rear of the toledo just seems a bit smashed.. But to be fair only judging this photo as i have never seen either in person..

They both look really cool. It's hard to decide. The vinyl roof on the top car is cool though. Were they sold over here?

I'm not sure whether they were actually. I think the big exports were the TR series and the Spitfires. If they were sold they weren't big sellers, which is a shame as they're the British 2002.
I do love the vinyl rooves on these, which is rare. Not often I like them, but they really make these cars.

Ate Up With Motor just did a two part series on the Triumph...

That was quick, thanks :)
I think the tails a bit too short on this one, but it gets the gist across. I think it would look better as a 2-door like that, but I can't for the life of me find a good picture. This is the best I can find:

I do like that Dolomite/1500. Pity indeed that these didn't lift Triumph out of its hole the way the 2002 did BMW. Even if they lost the 'affordable' portion of their image, I'd love it if I could drive a modern car today under the Triumph badge. Particularly if the newest Spitfire made ~250 horses...

I've spent a decent amount of time thinking what modern-day Triumph would build, and also if I were sent back in time, how I would save them from their demise.
Triumph got swallowed up by the juggernaut of British Leyland. I think if they were part of a more streamlined company, they would have survived a lot longer.
Also, a good deal of my future project ideas centre around building cars that Triumph would have build, had they a little more resources. Things like a fuel injected Stag, a Dolly Sprint with the IRS from the earlier 1300 (and a 2-door Dolly Sprint using the Toledo shell), the Spit 6 I'm building now and a hot GT6.
Even more adventurous would be a Stag with the 16v heads from a Dolly Sprint.
